Kasey Rainbow x Love Luna
We're very excited to introduce you to a lady of many colours that has truly brighten up our lives (and period briefs), Kasey Rainbow.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I live in Brisbane’s Bayside (Quandamooka Country) with my little ‘mini me’ (my daughter) and my biggest fan-boy (my husband). I have been working full time as an artist since the beginning of 2020 and create from my little home studio. As someone who has suffered from mental illness since I was young, art was always my coping mechanism – a bright, bold way to bring myself out of dark places. Now, I use my art to help others and inject a bit of joy into everyday lives. Knowing my work makes people smile makes my heart so happy, and it is the reason I do what I do. When I am not working (which is not often when you run your own business!) I love to read, pat my fur babies, create collages and eat tacos, drink margaritas and laugh loudly with family and friends.
How did you first get into creating art?
I have loved art for as long as I can remember. I have always been creative at heart, and it was always my favourite subject in school. My Mum is incredibly talented and growing up we always had a ‘craft room’ in the house, so there was always plenty of resources readily available for creating. Unfortunately, when I was younger, I didn’t think it was a viable aspiration for a career, so went on an incredibly long journey trying to discover what I was ‘meant’ to do in life… only to realise a few years ago that I was always destined to be an artist. It took me awhile to believe in myself, but here we are! And I couldn’t be happier.
Where do you find inspiration for your art?
Honestly, everywhere. Often I will see patterns and colours when I am out running errands, or watching a movie, or at the park with my daughter – sometimes in nature, sometimes in the cracks of a concrete path. You really can see the beauty in anything if you look closely enough.
Best part of your job?
The best part of my job is that I literally wake up every morning excited to go to work. I absolutely love what I do, and I often feel guilty calling it my ‘job’ as I would be doing it regardless of if I was getting paid or not!
Favourite colour?
Is leopard print a colour?? Haha. I’m a HUGE lover of pink, but surprisingly I also really love black.
What is your favourite Luna product?
I am quite new to the period undie world but love the Eco Full Briefs for those days when you know she’s coming, but you’re not sure exactly when. I’ve never been a risk taker, so these babies remove all risks of a sneaky leak!
Best period hack?
Tracking! I have only recently started tracking my cycles in a bid to better understand my body and how it reacts at certain times of month. By doing this it allows me to work WITH my body and my cycle. And it also means I can have chocolate in the fridge in preparation for that first day 😉
